Phlebotomy training in Colorado is offered at the Phlebotomy Learning Center of Denver, among other places. The facility has constantly upgraded its curriculum and has a team of certified practitioners in their faculty roster. Approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education under its Division of Private Occupational Schools, PLC of Denver has close ties with hospitals and other health care facilities around the area to enable students to tour and take up externship for their training. The training is 10 intensive weeks, plus another week of externship. Class is once a week for 4.5 hours, divided equally into lectures and laboratory training. Externship is 5, eight-hour shifts or a total of 40 hours. After completing the program, students are expected to have 100 blood draws to satisfy the requirement for certification.
