There is phlebotomy training in Columbus for two quarters at the Columbus State Community College. The first quarter is focused on theory and skills learned are practiced in a laboratory environment. The second quarter is devoted to clinical experience in outpatient settings for maximum exposure to various kinds of situations and patients. This helps them develop confidence as professionals. The phlebotomy program is approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Completion of the program will make graduates eligible to sit for the national certification exam administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. The Ohio School of Phlebotomy also offers training in its six week course, inclusive of 40 hours of externship. The State of Ohio Board of Career Colleges has accredited the school’s phlebotomy technician program and completion of the course will enable graduates to sit for the national certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association.
