Phlebotomy training in Pennsylvania is offered at the Phlebotomy Institute of Central PA. It is a six-week program, with classes held in evenings fpr three hours each session. Clinicals for hands-on experience is a total of 60 hours. Because of the large class size, five instructors supervise the class. Upon completion, graduates are ready for employment opportunities or may choose to sit for the certification exam administered by the National Healthcareer Association. Fortis Institute has two campuses in Pennsylvania – Forty Fort and Scranton. The difference in their phlebotomy program is that it is in combination with ECG and Lab Assistant training. So graduates acquire more than one skill that increase their marketability as professionals. HACC (Harrisburg Area Community College) and now known as Central Pennsylvania’s Community College offers a two-semester phlebotomy technician program available in its campuses in Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathologists certification exam.
